'Take in writing...'- Ravichandran Ashwin compares Abhishek Sharma's shot with former India star after IND vs PAK Super 4 knock
The former spin all-rounder of the Indian side, Ravichandran Ashwin, has compared the Indian opening batter Ravichandran Ashwin's shot with the former star of the country post the special knock from India vs Pakistan Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2025.

On several occasions during the Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Salman Ali Agha-led side tried to go after Abhishek Sharma to break his mindset. However, the left-handed batter was incredible with his free-flowing shots to earn the victory for India.
The Punjab-born smashed 74 runs in 39 deliveries with the help of six boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 189.74 in a partnership of 105 runs for the opening wicket with Shubman Gill. The former Indian off-spin all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, has compared his cover-drive shot with MS Dhoni’s helicopter.
“I want to tell you that this is not the arrival of Abhishek Sharma; this is just the beginning. He has just started, and he has a long future ahead. He is going to blow the cricketing world apart. Take that in writing.” Ashwin expressed during a recent interaction on his YouTube video.

Apart from Abhishek, Shubman Gill smashed 47 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 167.86, thanks to eight boundaries. Later, Tilak Verma clubbed 30 unbeaten runs in 19 balls with two fours and as many sixes to complete the successful chase by six wickets and seven balls to spare.
“He has so much ability, just like how Yuvraj Singh became India's marquee white-ball cricketer. The best white-ball batter in limited-overs cricket for India. He can reach that level easily. I think he is going to carry Yuvraj's legacy forward. He is a phenomenal talent. Abhishek Sharma hit an inside-out MS Dhoni-style helicopter cover drive.” Ashwin explained.
“Everybody will talk about the five sixes that he hit, but I want to talk about this cover drive, because there was finesse in this shot. Despite only having one bat swing, he can adjust his downswing. If a batter can make the game look that simple, then why would you not want to watch him day in and day out?” The former CSK player concluded.
