Team India speedster Jasprit Bumrah made a surprise visit to the Gujarat Ground College in Ahmedabad on Monday, December 29, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match between Tamil Nadu and Ahmedabad. In pictures shared by Sportstar, the star bowler was seen bowling in the nets under the supervision of former Gujarat Ranji coach Hitesh Majumdar.

Bumrah bowled quietly and left without drawing attention. There were no screaming fans or autograph seekers, and he had a short but focused session under the coach’s watch.

He began with a few deliveries from a short distance and gradually increased his run-up. By the end of the session, he was bowling with a full run-up, keeping the batters alert, though not at full pace.

Jasprit Bumrah’s net session at the Gujarat Ground

In an interview with Sportstar, Gujarat Ranji batter Sunpreet Bagga shared his experience of facing Bumrah and said:

“He wasn’t bowling at full pace, around 130135 kmph. I faced two overs from him,” said Gujarat Ranji batter Sunpreet Bagga.

Bumrah made his first-class debut for Gujarat in 2013 and is now an important part of Team India across formats due to his skilled bowling. During his 30-minute net session against Bagga, he focused on making the ball rise off the pitch and keeping the batter alert, urging him to stay on his toes. He bowled at speeds of 130-135 kmph and delivered two overs to Bagga.

Workload Management Ahead of Upcoming Series

With New Zealand coming to India in less than two weeks, Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play in the ODI series against them. The team management is managing his workload carefully ahead of upcoming international tournaments, including the T20 World Cup 2026, for which he has already been selected.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, selectors are likely to rest both Bumrah and Hardik Pandya for the 50-over series against New Zealand, starting on January 11 in Vadodara. However, both players are expected to return for the T20I series to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Bumrah will remain one of Team India’s most important players in the World Cup due to his ability to bowl effectively in all phases. He was the Player of the Tournament when India won the title in 2024.
