The Hundred 2025, Match 16: Oval Invincibles vs Welsh Fire full match highlights and scorecard

In the 16th fixture of The Hundred 2025, Oval Invincibles locked horns with Welsh Fire at the Kennington Oval in South London. The Jonny Bairstow-led Walsh side won the toss and chose to bowl first on the surface.

The home side decided to retain the same playing eleven from the previous clash, while the visitors made two vital changes. Matt Henry, finishing his international assignment for New Zealand during the Test series in Zimbabwe, has returned to the eleven along with Ajeet Dale. Tom Abell and Riley Meredith got out of the eleven. Stephen Eskinazi also came into the opening position.

Oval Invincibles post highest score in The Hundred history

Will Jacks and T Muyeye smashed a fine opening stand of 76 runs in 39 balls. The former smashed 38 runs in 26 balls with the help of six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 135.71. Muyeye drilled 33 runs in 15 balls. But the best knock of the first innings came from Jordan Cox, who remained unbeaten on 86 runs in 29 balls, scoring 10 sixes and three fours.

Sam Curran smacked 34 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 178.95 with the help of three boundaries and two sixes. They posted the highest score of The Hundred of 226/4 in their allotted 100 balls.

Welsh Fire's poor batting gift Oval 83-run victory

Welsh Fire lost both openers, Eskinazi and Steve Smith, inside 11 balls for 12 runs. Luke Wells drilled 29 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of two fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 161.11. However, Jonny Bairstow continue to nail the bowlers around the park as he celebrated a fine half-century and kept the hopes alive for the tourits. But he perished soon after the landmark with 50 with five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of nearly 180.

Since then, they kept losing wickets regularly and never got the chase going. Tom Curran picked up four wickets in the second innings while Jason Behrendroff comntribited three wickets in the fixture. Oval earned a victory by 83 runs.
