Aakash Chopra shared his thoughts on whether Shreyas Iyer can fit in the Team India lineup during the Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to start on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Chopra acknowledged Iyer's impactful batting throughout the IPL 2025.

Iyer, as the captain and middle-order batsman, guided Punjab Kings to the IPL final, where they fell short against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Since IPL 2014, it was the first instance when Kings made their way to the grand finale. Still, the former cricketer is doubtful about Shreyas Iyer's possibilities in the Asia Cup 2025 team, as the men in the blue brigade have enough talents in their squad. Aakash even said that Iyer is the kind of cricketer who can change the color of a match.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel 'Aakash Chopra,' he opined, "That is a phenomenal question. No one is answering this question, and everything else is being spoken about. Of course, you want him to play. Indian cricket's beauty is that it has a lot of talent. So many people look ready that if someone were to play, he would change the game. Shreyas Iyer can do that."

No room in top 4

The cricket expert stated that, apart from RCB matches, Iyer was brilliant and polished his batting style against short deliveries.

"If you see his recent IPL performance, he came after sorting out his short-ball problem... However, the truth is also whether a place is there. Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav are already doing well. How will you move any of them? The truth is that when Tilak asked Surya to play him at No. 3, he was played, and he scored two hundreds. Surya lost his place. They were flip-flopping between them. So there is no place till No. 4," Chopra added.
