Bangladesh cricket fans received a major boost at the IPL auction as left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman secured a high-profile deal with Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.20 crore. With this signing, Mustafizur became the most expensive Bangladeshi player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

At the time of the auction, Bangladesh national team cricketers were taking part in a Victory Day celebration match in Mirpur. As soon as the news of Mustafizur’s deal was announced, the stadium erupted with cheers, with fans chanting “Fizz, Fizz.” The excitement quickly spread to Mustafizur’s teammates, who were still playing the match. The auction took place in Dubai on Tuesday, December 16.

After the match, several Bangladesh cricketers spoke about the deal. ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said they were unable to follow the auction live due to their match commitments, but were delighted when they heard the news. Speaking at a press conference, Miraz described the deal as a blessing not only for Mustafizur but also for Bangladesh cricket.

A player like Mustafiz truly deserves this. He has achieved a lot for the country and has also proven himself in franchise cricket,” Miraz said.

Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also shared his happiness over the news. Although he did not know the exact amount at first, he said Mustafizur’s return to the IPL was very good news.

“I am very happy. I heard he got a very good price, but I do not know the exact amount. This is really good news,” Shanto said.
