The Welsh Fire Women lost by 2 runs to London Spirit Women at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, in Match 6 of The Hundred Women’s 2025. London Spirit set the target of 124 all out in 99 balls, led by Charli Knott’s assured innings. In reply, Welsh Fire seemed on track during the chase but they were just short, finishing on 122/5 with some good contributions from the top order.

1. Charli Knott’s All-Round Match-Winning Impact

Charli Knott was the best player on Spirit’s side, who reckoned it with her performance. With the bat, she reached 47 off 33 balls, launched 7 boundaries, and balanced the innings after the early dismissals. Besides, she also got Jess Jonassen out and gave only 16 runs in 10 balls, stopping Welsh Fire at a critical juncture.

2. Key Wickets and Tight Middle-Overs Bowling

The bowlers of London Spirit were deciding the times of their operations correctly and thus they were able to stop Welsh Fire from progressing further. Grace Harris (1/4 in 5 balls) sent Sophia Dunkley back just when she was dangerous, and Issy Wong (1/19) and Knott’s economical spell ensured the Fire batters couldn’t dominate the middle phase. This pressure meant the chase was always just behind the rate.

3. Death-Overs Dot-Ball Pressure

Once, the Welsh Fire got to the score of 94/2 with 25 balls left in the innings; they were seemingly in a good position. Nonetheless, Spirit’s bowling at the death was very disciplined, which meant that the Fire could not get to the boundary easily and hence had to continue with many non-scoring balls. Due to the absence of the finishing acceleration, Fire was only able to add 28 runs in the closing sets and fell just two runs short of the target.
