Trent Rockets Women Thrash Welsh Fire Women by 23 runs

Trent Rockets Women played a strong team game to defeat Welsh Fire by 23 runs. Ashleigh Gardner shone with both bat and ball, while Alana King’s superb spell helped seal the win. Tammy Beaumont fought hard for Welsh Fire, but her side’s batting could not handle the pressure.

The Rockets scored 145/6 with good knocks from Bryony Smith (38 off 27), Nat Sciver-Brunt (38 off 26), and captain Ashleigh Gardner (36 off 26). Heather Graham added 13 runs at the end. For Welsh Fire, Freya Davies bowled well and took 3/26, while Shabnim Ismail and Hayley Matthews picked up one wicket each.

Chasing 146, Welsh Fire depended on their captain Tammy Beaumont, who made a fighting 54 from 41 balls. Sophia Dunkley scored 26 but after her wicket the team slipped. Alana King (3/17) bowled brilliantly, while Gardner (2/28) and Kirstie Gordon (2/32) kept the pressure on. Welsh Fire ended with 122/9, falling short by 23 runs.
