The Delhi Capitals (DC) didn’t make a sound start during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It was a slow surface where the home batters struggled to get the momentum and continued to lose wickets one after another.

Delhi Capitals opened their account with the first-ball boundary but were soon restricted to 69/5 in 11 overs as none of the top five batters could cross the 20-run mark. Their captain, Axar Patel, was the last wicket to fall for just two runs as the Super Kings spinners created issues for the batters.

Tristan Stubbs nailed top-tier six in IPL 2026 vs CSK

Tristan Stubbs came into the middle during the 10th over of the innings as Nitish Rana went back to the pavilion with the Capitals getting 62 runs for the loss of four wickets at the halfway mark. On the very first delivery of the over, it could have been a short stay for the Protea batter.

Watch the video here:

Gurjapneet Singh came up with a fuller length delivery outside the off stump as Stubbs leaned into the drive. He hit the ball in the air and straight into the hands of the cover fielder, where Noor Ahmed got both his hands but dropped it.

The South African batter didn’t wait much before making the visiting side pay. On the very next ball, the left-arm pacer went a fraction short and at the stumps as the right-handed batter picked the length and swiveled across to pull it over the long-leg region for a massive six.

On the fourth ball of the 14th over, the right-handed batter got the good length delivery outside the stumps in the slot and pummeled the lofted on-drive high and deep into the stands at the long-on region.

Tristan Stubbs shoulders DC to respectable total

Stubbs, after the flurry of wickets, put a vital 50+ run partnership for the sixth wicket with Sameer Rizvi, who came into the playing eleven as the impact player. The latter cracked his way to 31 runs off 20 balls with the help of three sixes at a strike rate of 155.

The former was also decent in contributing 36 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of 128.57, with the help of two sixes and one boundary. Any score over the 160-run mark would anyway be incredibly hard for the Super Kings.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing): DC- 155/7 (Sameer Rizvi 40*, Noor Ahmed 2/22) vs CSK
