Chennai Super Kings have chosen to field first after winning the toss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the southern derby fixture of Match 8 of Indian Premier League 2025 play at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

RCB dominated Kolkata Knight Riders in the season-opening match at Eden Gardens, while CSK had started their campaign by beating Mumbai Indians last Sunday.

This will be CSK and RCB's 34th match against each other, with the Super Kings leading the head-to-head 21-11. CSK have also won 8 out of 9 matches they have played at Chennai, their only defeat coming in the first season of 2008.

CSK have never lost to RCB at Chepauk since the inaugural season of 2008. RCB have defeated CSK once at Chepauk in their second-ever meeting on May 21 in 2008.
