Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a mixed start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. But they faced two defeats against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. And they lacked the firepower in their batting department.
Abhishek Sharma, who was put under massive expectation for the Hyderabad side after two successive seasons of the tournament, has gone through a hot and cold campaign with the bat as he celebrated only one fifty in the first three clashes.

On the fourth delivery of the fifth over, he stood tall and swung hard for another six to celebrate his half-century in just 18 balls, and ended the over with another six. On the fifth delivery of the sixth over of the innings, he casually walked forward and pumped Xavier Bartlett over deep mid-wicket for another six.
Sunrisers posted 105 without any damage inside the power play. That was the third-highest score for the franchise in the history of the league in the IPL in the first six overs. They raced away to 120 runs in just eight overs. But Abhishek was finally dismissed for 74 runs in just 28 balls.
