Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) experienced the worst start by losing Abhishek Sharma on the very first ball during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium and found themselves under massive trouble to get going inside the powerplay. 

That was the time when they needed to be crystal clear with the approach. It would have been quite easy for them to go defensive and back into the hole. But they never took the backfoot and continued the onslaught, thanks to the aggressive batting from their captain, Ishan Kishan.

On the second ball of the third over, Ishan Kishan picked the length delivery from Jofra Archer and flicked it over backward square leg for a boundary before pulling the England pacer over the deep mid-wicket region for a massive six.

After launching Nandre Burger’s left-arm seam over the third man, Kishan cleared his front foot and clubbed Sandeep Sharma straight down the ground for a towering six as the ball sailed into the sightscreen. Tushar Despande attempted the same mistake of going into the leg side of the Jharkhand batter, who punched him for another four through the mid-wicket region.

Despite losing Travis Head during this process, the southpaw didn’t let the Royals bossing the middle overs. He deposited Sandeep over the mid-wicket region for a huge six before celebrating his half-century in just 30 balls with another six that was nailed into the deep mid-wicket region.

Kishan powered the same aggression for a 21-run over against Sandeep, who was smoked for 32 runs in two overs without any success as the Royals felt the heat all of a sudden. His partnership of 85 runs came in just 37 balls with Heinrich Klassen.
