Both the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) met each other in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after their respective defeats against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Mumbai Indians (MI). At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, both sides wanted to earn their respective victories.

The RCB captain, Rajat Patidar, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface that was a bit sticky to start with. But they needed to pick early wickets with the new ball inside the power play. Sai Sudharsan raced away to his second half-century of the campaign in the blink of an eye.

On the fourth ball of the innings, Sudharsan got an outside edge into the third man region for a boundary as the ball found the vacant place in the field before he timed Bhuvneshwar Kumar for two boundaries in the third over of the innings. The southpaw cracked Rasikh Salam for two successive fours.

He welcomed Josh Hazlewood for another boundary, which was a lucky one as the under-edge went past the wicket-keeper. The Tamil Nadu batter got over the bounce and cut the short ball from Josh Hazlewood over the backward point region for a massive six.

With a six, by picking the good length ball from outside the off stump, Sudharsan shuffled across against Romario Shepherd to celebrate his half-century of just 33 balls. In an IPL innings, his 29 balls were the third-highest number of balls faced by a batter.

The Chennai-born upper cut Krunal Pandya’s short ball over the slog sweep for a six to give momentum to the Titans as he became the fastest to cross 2000 runs in the IPL in just 47 innings, as he went past Chris Gayle’s 48 innings. Meanwhile, he has taken only 1361 balls among Indians to score 2000 runs.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing): GT- 127/0 (Sai Sudharsan 91*, Shubman Gill 32*) vs RCB.
