The sensational left-handed opening batter and the recent U-19 World Cup 2026 winner of the Indian cricket team, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is set to play in the DY Patil T20 tournament in Mumbai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as the annual event in Navi Mumbai will get 16 teams as every year. This season the U-19 WC winner is expected to represent one of the teams. 

The reports have claimed that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is close to be part of the tournament after talks had been underway with the opener as the player’s team and the chances of the opener featuring in the even is very close. The tournament, which starts on February 23 this year, will see various international players taking part.

“He is currently practicing in Talegaon, where the Rajasthan Royals camp is underway. The camp will continue till February 21, after which Sooryavanshi will proceed to Patna and then to his hometown.” The source has revealed as being addressed by the Cricbuzz report.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to play DY Patil tournament ahead of IPL 2026

A promotional event, where Sooryavanshi is expected to be represented with a vehicle, has been scheduled. It’s long overdue, and the batter may come to Mumbai for the DY Patil. The Bihar-born comes with hot form, having smashed 175 runs in the final against England in Harare which helped the blue brigade posting a massive score of 411 on the board and earing a 100-run victory.

At present, Sooryavanshi is in Talegaon, where the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have a facility, according to the report. He hasn’t gone home since his arrival from Zimbabwe, and has started to begin for the preparation of the Indian Premier Leage (IPL). This DY Patil event will be another great practice for the southpaw ahead of the IPL 2026.

The DY Patil tournament, held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, is one of the oldest T20 events in the country, having started in 2003. The venue has been one of the vital spots of Indian and global cricket of late. It has hosted the final of the Women’s World Cup and some of the warm-up games of the ongoing World Cup.
