Umpire Anil Chaudhary reveals one funny incident with Rohit Sharma

Anil Chaudhary, the former International Panel of ICC Umpires, is known for his insightful and quality comments. In recent times, he has revealed some crucial detailed laws on social media to make them more understandable to the public. Recently, in an event, Anil Chaudhary shared a funny incident with the former Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Umpire Anil Chaudhary was present at a cricket event, ISPL, where he was asked about any funny stories or incidents with the former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. In reply, Anil shared an on-field funny story with Rohit Sharma.

Anil Chaudhary praised Rohit Sharma

According to the former ICC umpire, probably during an IPL match, Mumbai Indians legend Rohit Sharma once ran straightaway unknowingly after playing a shot on the first ball, while the umpire gestured to him, Rohit soon told him that he would be careful. Most probably, the umpire was talking about Rohit's unintentional running straight to the danger zone of the pitch, which can be penalised with multiple occurrences after warnings in the same innings.

In that same video, umpire Anil Chaudhary highly praised the former Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and especially mentioned his outstanding ability to understand a game. 

India won two ICC trophies under Rohit Sharma's leadership

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest captains in Indian cricket history. Under his leadership, India won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and India won both those titles in unbeaten ways. Also, under his leadership, India finished as runners-up in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, where the Men in Blues only lost the Final of the tournament against Australia, while winning all other matches of that tournament. 

In international cricket, Rohit is currently active only in the ODI format. While he is still the second most T20I run-scorer, the right-handed batter is also India's third most ODI run-scorer.
