The left-handed young Bihar opening batter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has already shown his caliber of rain sitting around the park in the shortest format of the game, has now impressed in the list of cricket during the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26. Thanks to his imperious 36-ball century, he celebrated against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi.

This round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is mostly focused on veteran Indian players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but the upcoming serious talent of Indian cricket just three days after the recently finished Asia Cup Under 19 nailed the opposition bowlers in all parts of the ground to celebrate the second fastest century by an Indian man in overall List A cricket.

Only Punjab's Anmol Preet Singh has recorded a quicker century among Indian players in this format, having smashed a 35 century against the same opposition last season. The Rajasthan Royals battered and then racked up their 100 50 in only 54 deliveries, which broke the record of former South Africa batter AB de Villiers of 64 balls.

Suryavanshi, however, missed out on recording the fastest listed double 100 as he failed for 190 of just 84 deliveries thanks to his 15 sixes during a magnificent knock, which was only second to Rohit Sharma's record in list innings among Indians.

Australia’s opening batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk, had smoked a 29-ball century for South Australia against Tasmania in Adelaide two years ago, which remains the fastest century of List A cricket. Thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s knock, Bihar put up 282 runs in just 30 overs against Arunachal Pradesh.

He also became the youngest to score 100 in Man’s List A cricket as he overtook Zahur Ilahi against Railways in 1986, who celebrated the record at an age of 15 years 209 days, while Suryavanshi is yet to cross the 15-year ag mark. The southpaw will hope to continue the same aggressive batting in the next phase.
