Before RCB’s match against the Mumbai Indians on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium, a video of Tim David went viral on social media. The video captured a chaotic moment at the Mumbai Airport. As soon as the RCB batting all-rounder stepped out from the airport’s gate, hundreds of fans were there to welcome the visiting team.
A fan tried to take a selfie without Tim David's consent
Tim David is among the star overseas players in the RCB squad. Fans at the airport went crazy as soon as they saw David coming out of the airport gate. The Australian star had to struggle a lot because of the unorganized mob.
The viral video even captured a fan forcefully trying to take a selfie with the cricketer. The 30-year-old cricketer, who is known for his aggressive batting style, handled the situation with a cool head. He first gently took the phone from the fan, who was trying to take a selfie without the cricketer's consent, then handed the phone back before closing the door of the car.
A large part of the cricket community raised concerns after seeing the incident. Questions arose about the safety of the cricketers, and also questioned the civic sense of fans.

The cricketer replied
Days after the incident, on the latest social media post of the cricketer, a fan raised the issue. On April 22, Tim David shared a cool graphical poster of himself in a superhero avatar. The post attracted thousands of likes and comments within a few hours.
In the comment section, one of the fans, as the RCB cricketer, said, “But you didn't give a selfie with fans @timdavid8”. David replied. Straightforwardly, he stated that sometimes it becomes really stressful. “bro when you crowd it becomes very stressful,” he replied.
David got some support as well in the replies.
“Bro, they also need privacy. Why create hate? He is one of the most likable players,” one of the fans wrote in support of the cricketer. “We Indians think celebrities are robots; they don't have their personal life, they should give selfies and autographs to everyone. Otherwise, they are bla bla...stop this man, it's ...so embarrassing,” another comment reads.
Tim David remains a dependable figure for RCB
Tim David is in good form in the IPL 2026 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The regular player of the team has so far scored 173 runs at an average of 86.50 in 6 matches and 6 innings, including an unbeaten 70-run knock and a strike rate of 203.52.
Behind RCB’s first-ever title-winning season, David played a pivotal role. After the conclusion of the triumphant campaign, his batting average and strike rate were 62.33 and 185.14, respectively, after participating in 12 matches and 9 innings.
