Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to play his 200th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the 2026 season as he gets prepared to feature in the clash between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.

Currently featuring for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bhuvi is the second-leading wicket-taker in IPL history, thanks to 215 scalps in 199 innings at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 20.61 with an economy rate of 7.68, thanks to two five-wicket hauls. 

RCB players shower praise on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 200th IPL game

The former RCB and Indian captain, Virat Kohli, has congratulated Bhuvneshwar’s superb skill and execution over the years in any phase of the competition. He also reckoned that the Uttar Pradesh bowler would be the one to bank on in any period.

“He has probably been one of the top three pacers of the IPL ever. It’s a massive feat to play 200 games, especially as a fast bowler. I know it’s T20 cricket, but that tells you about his longevity in all those years and being such a successful bowler. What always stands out for me with Bhuvi is that he always has a great understanding of the game.” Kohli expressed in a special video on RCB.

“If you look at the number of wickets he has picked up at that economy, the number of dot balls that he has is superb. And he is one of those guys you can bank on under pressure. That’s crazy to think about having the skill and execution that the captain can bank on you is a great achievement.” The veteran addressed.

The 36-year-old has 17 wickets in nine innings of 2026 at an economy rate of 7.54. has been lauded by his bowling partners, Josh Hazlewood, and their head coach, Andy Flower.

“He is second to none of us. You know, the swing bowling, and the lengths he hit and moving it both ways, and the way he reads the game, bowling the first over, and it sets the game for the other bowlers and the rest of the team. The way he assesses the condition is key.” Hazlewood noted.

“It’s an absolute privilege to see him doing his thing. It’s like seeing Virat bat is like seeing Bhuvi bowl. Both are masters of what they do. Congratulations on your operation over the years.” Flower concluded.
