Virat Kohli positioned himself as one of the most prolific Test batters in world cricket by breaking multiple personal records. His cricket dynamics and vision were at their peak when the batter was assigned as the captain of team India. BCCI appointed him as full-time Test captain on December 14 following MS Dhoni's retirement from the format. Kohli led India in 68 Tests and claimed 40 wins until Rohit Sharma emerged as captain in February 2022.

Virat Kohli is now considered as one of the best Test captains of team India after Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni. Virat's team, India, started to rule the cricketing world with their will to win. Virat was able to change the body language of the entire squad, injecting the much-needed desire to win a game under any situation. Along with field tactics, Virat applied his never-give-up attitude in the dressing room. With an inspiring captain, boys started to deliver their best, and the results were on board: multiple historic wins for India.

Some of the great moments during Kohli's captaincy era:

Crushed West Indies in Rajkot, 2018

In 2018, Virat Kohli's team India scripted a towering victory over the West Indies. It was the biggest Test win ever. With the help of Prithvi Shaw (134), Cheteshwar Pujara (86), Ravindra Jadeja (100*), and Kohli (139) himself, India posted a total of 649/9d. It was beyond the reach of West Indian batters. India won the match by an innings and 272 runs.

Cruising victory in Adelaide, 2018

Defending successfully against Australia in their backyard is not everyone's cup of tea. But it was Virat Kohli and his boys who did the job in a neck-to-neck match. Cheteshwar Pujara’s 123 helped India in the first innings to touch 250, then Australia replied with 235. In the second innings, Pujara (71) again stood tall with Ajinkya Rahane (70) to extend their lead to a fightable margin. Australia needed 323 runs to win, but Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami, each with 3 wickets, halted them at 291. It marked team India's first-ever Test win in Adelaide.

Dawn at the Lord's, 2021

The match was noted for one of the masterpieces by Captain Virat Kohli. Some brilliant performances and Kohli's attacking field setting did not allow England batters to spread their wings. The host team needed 272 to win the match, and with an in-form Joe Root, who got 180* in the first innings, the task looked achievable for England. But Virat's brigade bundled them only for 120, Mohammed Siraj ended the match with a total of 8 wickets, and India won the match by 151 runs.
