In perhaps the solo performance of IPL 2025 till date, Virat Kohli set M. Chinnaswamy Stadium ablaze in Match 52 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The experienced batter destroyed a fireworks-causing 62 runs off a mere 33 deliveries, breaking record books in the process. His aggressive classy innings was a masterclass in controlled power hitting, timed to perfection against one of the most successful teams in the league.
Virat Kohli is the first player ever in IPL history to amass more than 1,100 runs against one team. His total against CSK now reads 1,146 runs in 34 innings, with an average of 38.20 and strike rate of 127.75.He overtook David Warner’s 1,134 runs against PBKS.Kohli also holds three of the top four spots for most runs against a single team, having scored 1,130 against DC and 1,104 against PBKS.
With his latest half century, Kohli now has 10 fifties against CSK, the most by any batter in IPL history. He surpassed the last record of nine, shared by Warner, Dhawan, and Rohit.His innings was characterized by elegant strokeplay, particularly in the powerplay and middle overs, as he found gaps easily and sent both pace and spin to all parts.
Virat Kohli’s fifty against CSK was his fourth consecutive half century of IPL 2025 season, showcasing the same kind of consistency he displayed in the 2016 season.With this latest knock, Kohli’s season tally stands at 505 runs, making it his eighth IPL season with 500+ runs the most by any batter in the tournament’s history.
Virat Kohli etched his name in IPL history by becoming the first player ever to hit 300 sixes for a single franchise. With five maximums in the match against CSK, he took his tally to 304 sixes for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This milestone places him ahead of some of the game’s most prolific hitters Chris Gayle (263 sixes for RCB) and Rohit Sharma (262 for MI) making Kohli the undisputed six-hitting king for a single team in IPL history.
Kohli also overtook Chris Gayle’s long-standing record of 151 sixes at a single ground, hitting his 154th six at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium the most by any batter at a single venue in T20 history. Even after 17 seasons, Virat Kohli continues to set new benchmarks, proving that class and hunger never fade.
