Virat Kohli, one of the most popular cricketers, continues to be important for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026, even after retiring from T20Is and Tests.

Before one of RCB’s matches, Kohli had a fun moment during practice. He was seen copying his teammate Romario Shepherd’s unusual batting style, which made the players and fans laugh.

Kohli, usually serious on the field, changed his style to mimic Shepherd’s stance and hitting technique. Shepherd, known for his power and unique approach, is already popular with fans, and Kohli’s imitation captured his style well. The video of Kohli copying Shepherd has appeared on social media and quickly became popular.

RCB Kicks Off IPL 2026 with a Win

Royal Challengers Bengaluru began the IPL 2026 season on a strong note, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. Virat Kohli, the poster boy of Indian batting, starred in the match, remaining unbeaten on 69* off 38 balls, with five sixes and five boundaries. As the defending champions, RCB has a strong squad this year and will aim to maintain momentum when they face Chennai Super Kings on April 5. CSK, coming off a heavy loss to Rajasthan, will be without MS Dhoni in that fixture.

Kohli’s journey with RCB spans the entire history of the IPL, having played for the team since the inaugural season in 2008. He holds the record for the most matches played for a single franchise, appearing in 268 games by the 2026 opener. He is also the all-time leading run-scorer in IPL history, amassing 8,661 runs.

The Indian cricket icon holds several tournament records, including the most runs in a single season, scoring 973 in 2016. He has also scored eight IPL centuries, the highest by any batter in the league’s history.
