Watch: Virat Kohli hit 6 over long off during IND vs SA 1st ODI in Ranchi

Vintage Virat Kohli at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi during India vs South Africa 1st ODI (IND vs SA 1st ODI). Against South African pacer Nandre Burger, Kohli played a magnificent shot to go over the long-off area for a beautiful six. A straight bat to guide the white ball for maximum, cricket fans are well aware of this trademark shot of the Indian batting maestro. 

The surface of the stadium in Ranchi has a layer of grass. So South Africa chose to bowl first with two of their speed starters, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen. Burger was bowling over 145 km/h with the new ball. Both of the pacers were enjoying bowling on the surface, where they were getting extra bounce and pace.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to give Team India a good start for the opening partnership. Jaiswal played some big shots but did not convert the momentum for a significant innings. Virat joined Rohit in the middle as Jaiswal went back to the pavilion after 18 off 16. Jansen and Burger continued their luxury pace against a fresh Virat Kohli but could not get the deserving result.

Virat Kohli smashed Nandre Burger for an over-boundary

Kohli quickly showed that he was carrying the form he showed during the last ODI match between India and Australia in Sydney on October 25. During the fifth ball of the first innings of today's match, when Burger was bowling with fiery pace, the Indian batting maestro hoisted the good-length ball with ease over the long-off cordon for an over-boundary, followed by a boundary. Against these kinds of shots, the fast bowler had nothing to do but to see the ball sailing over the fence. 

Virat Kohli helped team India to soak up the blow of Yashasvi Jaiswal's early dismissal. With Kohli on the pitch, Rohit also gradually started to shift gears.
