New Indian Test captain Shubman Gill is flying high with the bat in his first Test series, which is a challenging England tour. While Gill produced among the best batting performances in Test cricket history, former Indian captain Virat Kohli highly praised the new Indian Test leader.

Shubman Gill started his Test captaincy in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The five-match Test series opener started with the Leeds Test, where Gill scored 147 and eight runs in his first game as a Test captain. Although India suffered a defeat in that Test series opener, they have made a great comeback in the crucial away Test series, and captain Gill has played a very important role in it.

Indian Test captain Shubman Gill was unstoppable in Edgbaston Test

Despite the Edgbaston pitch favouring the batters massively, Indian Test captain Shubman Gill's batting performances in this Test match will remain unforgettable due to his unshakable commitment, as the right-handed batter never produced any chances for the opponents. In this crucial Test match, Gill scored 269 runs in the first innings, and later, the right-handed batter scored 161 runs during India's second innings.

Gill's incredible batting performances in the Test match have set up many unforgettable records by breaking legendary numbers.

  • Highest innings score by an Indian Test captain (269)
  • Highest score by an Indian in a Test match (430)
  • Second-highest score by any batter in a Test match (430)
  • Only batter to record 200+ and 150+ runs in the same Test match.
  • Only the second batter to record 150+ runs in both innings of a Test match.

In the ongoing Test series, Indian Test captain Gill has already scored 585 runs in just four innings. If he continues this form, he will surely break more great records in this Test series.
