Virat Kohli sets new world record with his 52nd ODI century in IND vs SA 1st ODI

In the Ranchi ODI against South Africa, Indian legend Virat Kohli hit his memorable ODI century, setting a new world record in international cricket.

Virat Kohli recorded his 52nd ODI century

In the first game of the three-match ODI series against South Africa at Ranchi, Indian legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli batted brilliantly to guide the hosts to a strong first innings total. Kohli hit his memorable ODI century, setting a new world record in international cricket.

South African stand-in captain Aiden Markram chose to field first after winning the toss. While the opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (18) was dismissed early, the other opener Rohit Sharma had a 136-run partnership for the second wicket. Rohit got an early life, but he counted really well by scoring 57 runs off 51 balls, where he set a new record for most ODI sixes.

Virat Kohli recorded his 52nd ODI century

Meanwhile, Kohli played a dream knock in the Ranchi ODI, where the right-handed batter slammed his 52nd ODI hundred, which was also his 83rd international cricket century, 17 away from the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 international century record. With a four, he completed his latest ODI century in 102 balls. 

With his 52 ODI centuries, Kohli set the new record for most centuries in one format of international cricket. The right-handed batter already holds the record for most ODI centuries, and now he has set a new world record in international cricket.

With 11 fours and seven sixes, Kohli scored 135 runs off 120 balls. Later, skipper KL Rahul scored 60 off 56 balls with two fours and three sixes, while Ravindra Jadeja played a solid cameo of 32 off 20 balls with two fours and one six, as India scored 349/8 in 50 overs.
