Watch: "Giving the pressure to" — Virender Sehwag on hosting Rise and Fall Season 2

The former Indian opening batter, Virender Sehwag, who is set to host the upcoming season of the reality show ‘Rise and Fall’, has reflected on his philosophy behind dealing with the pressure along with the contestants. He was recently part of the commentary team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Sehwag was recently seen at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, where he was in the stands watching his son, Aaryavir Sehwag, playing for the Indian U19 side against Australia during the three-match Youth ODI series.

Sehwag reveals his philosophy ahead of Rise and Fall season 2

During a recent interaction with IANS during the promotions of the reality show at the 5-star hotel in the city, Sehwag spoke about how he would never take the pressure and always look to knock it off over the covers to shift the pressure.

“I think pressure is not something that you take; it’s about giving the pressure back to the opponent. I always believed in it, and that was my way of taking the pressure away from my team as well. If I scored the boundary in the first few balls of the innings, the pressure would shift towards the bowler, and then his focus would shift towards stopping the runs, and not sending me to the pavilion.” Sehwag expressed.

“For me, this works in life as well. You can give your 100% if the pressure gets to you. It’s better if you stay unfettered by the pressure and work your way up.” He addressed.

Sehwag compares Rise and Fall to cricket: "No match is won before the final ball"

Sehwag compares the show to cricket, where he reckoned that during their childhood, they used to take inspiration from Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev. He insisted that the current generation should do the same, as Virat Kohli could be their best inspiration while growing up.

“When we used to play, we wanted to be Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar. It is the same today, because you want a role model, a hero. But I would like to say: draw inspiration from Sachin Tendulkar, but it is difficult to become like him. Draw inspiration from him, but make a name for yourself.” Sehwag addressed.

“We had several partnerships. He guided me a lot. Whenever he didn't play, it felt like a 'Fall' for me, that if he were around, we would have struck a better partnership.” The Indian star concluded.
