Watch: Abhishek Sharma registers third consecutive duck in T20 WC 2026 clash against Netherlands in Ahmedabad
Abhishek Sharma’s campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026 has gone from bad to worse after he bagged his third duck of the competition. Today he failed to open his account in India’s final Group A clash against the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Watch the video here.

World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma’s poor run in the T20 World Cup 2026 continued as he scored his third consecutive duck in the tournament. The left-hander once again failed to open his account, adding to his struggles on the big stage.
Facing the Netherlands in Ahmedabad, Abhishek looked under pressure from the very first ball. He tried to attack early but lost his wicket cheaply, putting India in early trouble and leaving the fans shocked.
Aryan Dutt took his wicket in the first over after India chose to bat first. This was Abhishek’s fifth duck in T20Is this year, equalling Sanju Samson’s unwanted record for the most ducks by an Indian batter in a calendar year. So far in this tournament, he has faced seven balls and is still waiting to score his first run.

Dutt’s smart plan worked against Abhishek
Aryan Dutt came with a clear plan and executed it well. He started with a quick and flat ball that came into Abhishek Sharma. The batter stayed back and played it safely on the off side. The next ball was also fast and angled in, not giving him any space to attack.
After building pressure, Dutt bowled a quicker delivery that skidded off the pitch. Abhishek tried to play a pull shot, expecting more bounce. But the ball was not short enough. It came quickly, beat his bat, and hit the stumps.
Struggles continue in the tournament
Abhishek had already faced problems earlier in the tournament. He got out in the first match against the USA and then missed the next game due to a stomach illness. He returned against Pakistan but was dismissed while trying to hit a big shot.
With his latest dismissal against the Netherlands, he now has five ducks in T20Is this year. He has scored 182 runs in eight matches, with his highest score of 84 coming against New Zealand. India will hope he finds form before their Super 8 match against South Africa in Ahmedabad.
