India and England are facing each other in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The winner of this match will play against the New Zealand national cricket team in the final. After winning the toss, England chose to bowl, making India bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

India’s innings started with a setback when opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed cheaply. However, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan kept India in the game. Sanju Samson continued his excellent form and scored a quick 50 off just 26 balls, giving India a strong platform.

The match took a crucial turn when England’s spinner Adil Rashid dismissed top-order batsman Ishan Kishan for 39 runs. This wicket came at an important stage, breaking a 97-run partnership and putting India under pressure. Kishan had been playing well and looked set to anchor the innings, but Rashid’s breakthrough shifted momentum to England. His wicket stopped the flow of runs and boosted England’s confidence. Fans and cricket analysts are talking about this moment, showing how important tactical bowling is in big matches like World Cup semi-finals.

Sanju Samson continues red-hot batting form in T20 World Cup 2026

Sanju Samson continued his excellent batting form with another strong performance at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After scoring 97 against the West Indies, he hit another half-century in the semi-final match against the England national cricket team. The CSK opener reached his fifty in just 26 balls.

Samson started attacking from the first over. He hit a boundary and a six off Jofra Archer in the opening over. England captain Harry Brook dropped Samson at mid-off in the third over, giving him another chance.

Even after that, Samson kept attacking. He hit a six two balls later and finished the over with a nice late shot to the boundary. His aggressive batting put pressure on the England bowlers.

Samson finally scored 89 runs from just 42 balls. He hit eight boundaries and seven sixes. His innings helped India reach a strong total, possibly above 250 runs.

This performance was a big comeback for Samson. He was dropped from the playing XI earlier in the tournament. Now he has scores of 97 and 89 in important matches.

His 89 runs are the joint highest score by an Indian player in a T20 World Cup semi-final. This record matches the 89 runs scored by Virat Kohli against West Indies in 2016.
