The former Indian captain Virat Kohli’s presence in the Indian dressing room has often been felt in various moments, as such an episode took place from the training camp of the blue brigade, with the video going viral from the opening ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.

The incident was of a net bowling engagement with Kohli during an intense practice session. India was put into the final touches before the ODI series got underway. After an extended net session, Kohli paused to offer the words of encouragement to the net bowler, who later signed a cricket ball for him.

“Agar maar padh bhi jaati hai to koi baat nahi, par conviction se, ki main wo ball daal raha hu jo mujhe daalna hai, main wo ball nahi daal raha jo batsman mujhse dalwa raha hai.” Kohli was heard delivering a pointed motivational message in the video that went viral on social media platforms.

The interaction came just after a demanding practice session in which Kohli and the net bowler spent close to an hour and a half facing the pacers from the Indian cricket team. He was up against the spinner and the throw-down specialists. Fresh from his appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the sessions were designed to bring Kohli back in full rhythm ahead of the Kiwi series.

The Delhi batter celebrated two half-centuries and two centuries in his last four ODI innings against Australia down under and South Africa at home. He aims to continue the same form in the Kiwi series and take every step forward for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Even during the two games for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) games, the right-handed batter drilled scores of 131 and 77 against Railways and Gujarat in Bengaluru. His recent numbers have been exceptional of late.
