In the season opener of IPL 2025, played at Eden Gardens between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a blistering knock. He made 56 off just 31 balls, finished off with a barrage of six fours and four sixes, and showed his class throughout with attacking intent to set a solid foundation for KKR early on in their innings.

Rahane's Dismissal – A Turning Point

The well crafted innings by Rahane came to a premature end when he tried to pull a shot against Krunal Pandya. Unfortunately, he pulled the shot too early and the ball ended up landing in Rasikh Salam's hands at deep backward square leg. That was a very important wicket and it gave RCB the much needed momentum shift along with giving them a breakthrough that changed the course of the match.
