India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, met the Indian Women’s Cricket team after their victorious World Cup 2025 campaign by beating South Africa in the final at the DY Patil Sports Academy. PM Modi lauded the players’ resilience and contribution in various phases of the tournament.

Modi celebrated India's world cup winning success during the special reception at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence. India’s head coach, Amol Mazumdar, expressed gratitude for the reception and shared his thoughts with the Prime Minister. He reckoned it was an honour from them to put a lot of effort in the last two years.

“We feel honoured and privileged coming here. The daughters of the country have done wonders. They have been putting a lot of effort into it for the last 2 years. They have played with the same intensity and energy in every practice session.Mazumdar expressed during the meeting.

Mazumdar shared a lovely story from June when the Indian team, during their white-ball trip to England, met King Charles III in the United Kingdom. He revealed that the support staff wasn’t allowed to meet King due to security reasons, with only 20 members being allowed.

“I would like to tell you a story. We were in England in June, where we met King Charles. However, the protocol there allowed only 20 people, so the support staff couldn’t join us. “You all have done a very big job. In India, cricket is not just a game; it has become the life of the people. If everything goes well in cricket, the entire country feels good, but if there is anything wrong in cricket, the entire country shakes. I feel that you can be very motivational because you hold a great power of success in your hands.PM Modi addressed the same meeting.
