After a convincing win against Pakistan, India took on Bangladesh in the second Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2025. While batting first, the Men in Blue got off to a steady start, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking. The openers laid a decent platform, allowing the middle order to take charge later in the innings.

Fiery Abhishek Sharma and Icey Shubman Gill soon took control, unleashing aggressive shots and dominating Bangladesh’s bowlers. Both batters displayed remarkable timing and power, hitting boundaries at regular intervals and ensuring India maintained a brisk scoring rate. Their confident strokeplay lifted the momentum, leaving the opposition struggling to find answers.

Abhishek Sharma joined the attack with his trademark strokes, combining well with Shubman to accelerate the innings further. Together, they added a substantial 72 runs, boosting India’s total and putting the team in a commanding position heading into the initial stage of the innings.

Shubman Gill’s Classy Inning Ends by Rishad Hossain:

Shubman Gill started the inning really well. He dominated Bangladesh’s bowlers with some beautiful shots. He contributed quick and crucial runs on board in the first power play. When the second power play started, he resumed his innings by smashing Rishad for a boundary. But his innings came to an end in the next ball.

In the 7th over, Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain delivered a crucial breakthrough, dismissing Shubman Gill. After a wide on the second ball, Hossain bowled with intent, adjusting his length despite being hit for a boundary earlier.

Gill attempted an aggressive shot, but mistimed it, sending the ball toward long-off. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, positioned perfectly, held on to a sharp catch, ending the dangerous partnership. The wicket provided Bangladesh with a much-needed boost, halting India’s momentum and showing that persistence and smart adjustments can pay off even under pressure.

Shubman Gill contributed a quickfire 29 runs off just 19 balls in the Super 4 clash, striking at an impressive rate of 152.63. During his innings, he showcased his ability to find gaps and score boundaries efficiently, hitting two fours and one six.

Gill’s aggressive approach helped India maintain a brisk scoring pace, providing a solid platform for the middle order. Despite his eventual dismissal while attempting a big shot, his cameo added crucial momentum to India’s innings. His strike rate and intent at the crease reflected his intent to dominate the bowlers and keep the scoreboard ticking consistently.
