Bangladesh coach, Phil Simmons, will be pleased after his team’s sweet victory over Sri Lanka on the opening Super 4 clash of the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. That win has put them at a strong position of qualifying to the final of the competition as they will require just one more win in the last two games against India and Pakistan.
On the pre-match press conference, Simmons insisted that regardless of the Blue Brigade’s winning streak, the Litton Das-led side is fully capable enough to winning against the Suryakumar Yadav-led side. He also reacted on Surya’s comment on no-present-rivalry between India-Pakistan side due to their 7-0 unbeaten streak over the opponents.

“Every game has its hype, especially matches involving India as they are the number one T20 team in the world. We plan to embrace that hype, enjoy the moment, and focus on playing our best.” Simmons revealed in the pre-match press-conference.

Bangladesh started their group-stage of the tournament with an easy win over the Hong Kong side in Abu Dhabi while facing a six-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka at the same ground. In their decider, against the Afghanistan side, Bangladesh grabbed an eight-run win to qualify for the Super 4 stage of the tournament. Later, they also got the better of the Charith Asalanka-led side to gain the upper-hand.
In case of the Indian side, it’s only about showing dominance. They started off with a fiery win over the United Arab Emirates by nine wickets before collecting another win over the arch-rivals Pakistan. They also got the better of Oman in the last group-stage clash before collecting another win over Pakistan in the Super 4 fixture.
India will now face Bangladesh in the next Super 4 fixture on September 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The winning side will qualify for the final while the loser will still have a chance to get the position against one of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
