Mumbai Indians (MI) will not play the opening match this time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They will start their campaign on March 29 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The players have started their training sessions ahead of the tournament. The 5-time IPL champions last won the trophy in 2020, making it a five-year hiatus. 

Under captain Hardik Pandya, MI weren't impressive in the previous edition, something which they will look forward to changing in this season. The team made quite a few mistakes in the past, due to which their IPL final journey was cut short. However, they do have a strong team this time, and another trophy might be on the cards.

Nita Ambani’s reaction to Rohit Sharma goes viral ahead of IPL 2026

MI's owner, Nita Ambani, has been seeing Rohit Sharma for more than a decade now. Despite that, she was shocked by his solid transformation in a video shared by the franchise on social media. The franchise owner went on to praise and even called him a 'young boy'. Rohit's reaction to the compliment was priceless. He stood there wearing his helmet and passed on a sweet smile. 

"My God, Rohit, I didn’t recognise you! You look like a young boy,” said Nita Ambani in the video released by the Mumbai Indians on social media.

Rohit Sharma’s fitness transformation grabs attention before new season

The former Indian and MI captain Rohit Sharma's fitness transformation is certainly the most discussed topic even today. He has lost a significant amount of weight after the end of IPL 2025 last year. It took him around four months to shed the extra weight with a proper diet and exercise. Now, as Nita Ambani mentioned, the right-handed batter does look younger.
