There are different ways of fielding side-stealing the batters to help them get the better of their mental strength. Whenever a batter bats, they try to go into a shell and forget everything, and outside noise to concentrate on the batting, and that’s where the fielding side tries their best to break the bubble.

For a few players, it can be different. They love to get into the battle and come under the skin of the fielding side. Virat Kohli and Brian Lara were such batters that most would advise keeping them silent and letting the batters do the job. Once those two start talking and get into a competition, it becomes incredibly tough to stop them.

A video has gone viral on social media platforms, where it seems to be a game in India from a club, where a right-arm spinner bowls a fine delivery to the batter, who goes on to his back foot to defend the delivery as the ball rolls onto the surface. As the batter tries to jump and juggle a bit in his normal stance, all the close-in fielders try to sync at the end.

There have been several incidents where the fielding side has been teasing the batters. During the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, Marnus Labuschagne decided to have a go at Shubman Gill, where the batter, who was fielding at the short-leg region, asked the striker to reveal his favorite food and batting partner.

The same act was done by the off-spinner of the side, Nathan Lyon, against the left-handed aggressive batter, Rishabh Pant, who was trying to smash the spinners for huge shots. The idea was to break the concentration of the southpaw batter.

In the past, the late great Shane Warne was a master of these things when he used to go after the batters to challenge them mentally. It was utterly draining if someone had played him for a session. Warne would do various things to keep the batters guessing about the next move.
