Gautam Gambhir visits Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple to take blessings

India’s all-format head coach, Gautam Gambhir, visited the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple on February 05 in Mumbai to seek blessings from Lord Ganesha ahead of their opening clash against the United States of America (USA) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign in India and Sri Lanka. He was accompanied by batting coach Sitanshu Kotak.

The former T20 World Cup-winning member of the Men in Blue in 2007 visited the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati ahead of the third fixture of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and offered prayers at the historic position. After the end of the clash, he visited the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam, ahead of the fourth clash.

Notably, no host nation has ever lifted the T20 World Cup trophy, which provides India a rare opportunity to rewrite history, and denying the two-time champions both milestones would take something extraordinary. They had been unbeaten in the previous season of the ICC event that took place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) two years ago.

There are clouds over India’s clash against Pakistan in the T20 WC 2026 after the Pakistan government decided to forfeit the group-stage clash against India, which is scheduled to take place on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Sky broke silence on the situation.

“Mindset is pretty clear. We haven't said no to the game. The ICC has decided on a neutral venue. We are going to Colombo for sure. We don't know about others. We will play the match on the 7th and go to Colombo then. Every team is good here, so it's important to play good cricket. Very relieved to get back to form and score runs. We want to control the way we want to play; dew is not in our control.” Sky expressed this at the captains’ press meet.
