India’s wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant, reflected on his batting and the fatal accident that he experienced in 2022, which saw him being ruled out from the 2023 ODI World Cup at home. He missed the entire Indian Premier League season for the Delhi Capitals in that edition before making his comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024 that India went on to win under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

During an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak, Rishabh Pant got to know about Rohit Sharma’s call to the media when the reports of his accident were spread out in the air and there was concern on the face of the former captain about his X-factor in the side.

“Definitely, it was not a good time, but as the time moves on, you don’t want to think about it. I had so many during this time, but God has his own planning, and that incident taught me a lot in life. As youngsters, we always want to learn. My perspective of looking at life changed from before the accident and after the accident.” Pant expressed in the interview.

Even during India’s England series last year, he batted with a broken foot in the 4th Test at Old Trafford as he picked up the injury while being on 37 when he tried to reverse sweep a delivery from Chris Woakes and ended up missing it completely.

“I still wanted to hold my own version. I have so many injuries in life. Obviously, you don’t want to get such an experience in life, but I took it in positively. There was no point in taking it negatively. I had to place my leg on my own in one position. It was all planned up.” The wicket-keeper batter shed light.

“The first innings was very crucial for us as the series was poised, and we didn't want to leave any stone unturned. When I got hit, I couldn't think about much except pain, and then I got taken to the hospital. We discussed the injury, and it indeed was a fracture. My finger had been snapped, and there was a big gap.” Pant concluded in the interview.
