Harleen Deol has shown his consistency in the first couple of games for India during the Women’s World Cup 2025 in Colombo and Guwahati against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, respectively. In the opening game, she smashed 48 runs before adding 46 vital runs in the second clash to keep going at the number three position.
During a recent interaction, she recalled how the former World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni, helped her during an injury. When she was in Ranchi, Dhoni arranged a conversation with the Indian batter and discussed various points to lift the Chandigarh batter’s spirit before the ICC event.
“I got an injury, and that was the time when he (MS Dhoni) was around in Ranchi. Everyone just wanted to meet him. And when he got to know that I got injured, he came up himself and he called me and we just had a chat and we had a very long chat. It was so amazing at the time when things were not going well for you; he came up, and then he gave me a lot of motivation that day. It was quite special for me.” Deol expressed during the conversation.

In the practice clash against the New Zealand women at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, Deol clubbed 74 runs. Overall, she has smashed 975 runs in 31 innings at an average of 33.62 and a strike rate of 76.83 with the help of four half-centuries and one century at the best score of 115 runs. In 19 WT20I, she nailed 298 runs.
MS Dhoni didn’t have an excellent IPL 2025, where he led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the absence of injured Ruturaj Gaikwad. But the franchise, for the very first time in their history, ended at the bottom of the points table.
There is speculation on whether Dhoni would be available for the next season of the IPL. On the other hand, Harleen will be facing South Africa in their next league stage encounter at the Dr. Y. S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
