Harpreet Brar, the left-arm spinner, was seen checking the fans’ Instagram account to see if that individual had followed him on the social media. The incident happened when the Punjab spinner was getting back in the hotel after the end of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26 in Hyderabad, where one of the people claimed to be his fan.
Harpreet Brar picked up his phone and found out that despite calling the left-arm spinner his fan, the individual didn’t follow his Instagram account. He later gave a suggestion on the current state of the world, where there are a few fake fans of many cricketers. Brar has been a successful campaigner in the shortest format of the game.

The 30-year-old has overall collected 90 wickets in 95 innings at an average of 24.95 and a strike rate of 20.2 with an economy rate of 7.38, thanks to the three five-wicket hauls at the best of 4/18 in an innings. Even with the bat, he has smashed 401 runs in 48 innings at a strike rate of 125.31.

In the IPL, Brar has overall bagged 35 wickets in 46 innings at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 23.01, along with an economy rate of just over eight, thanks to the best figures of 4/30 in an innings. Last year, the left-arm spinner ended with 10 wickets in seven wickets at 19 and an economy rate of under nine.
Brar’s recent contest came against Haryana at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first, the Haryana side ended with 207 runs in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to the twin half-centuries from Nishant Sindhu and captain Ankit Kumar. Sumit Kumar drilled a fine 28-run knock in 14 balls.
In reply, Punjab’s number three batter, Anmolpreet Singh, drilled 81 runs in just 37 balls at a strike rate of 218.91 with the help of eight boundaries and five sixes. Sanvir Singh’s unbeaten 30 runs tied the contest before Hayana won in the super over.
