In the previous contest against the United Arab Emirates of the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India’s Abhishek Sharma started the chase of the second innings with a huge six. He continued the same dominance and aggression even during their second encounter against India at the same venue, as the left-handed batter used his feet to Shaheen Shah Afridi for a boundary.

On the second ball of the chase, the left-handed batter made room and held his poor to drill the bowler over wide long-off for a huge six. It was a tremendous shot from the left-handed batter, Abhishek Sharma, who was in no mood to slow down.

Abhishek, on the first ball of the third over, went low and opened the face of the blade to smack Shaheen Afridi over the vacant backward deep point fence for a four before flicking the left-arm pacer over the mid-wicket region for a fine over boundary. Besides power, he showed good placement and timing on his shots.

The left-handed batter got outside the leg-stump region and went forward to loft the delivery over the extra-cover region for a boundary before getting forward and nailing the tossed-up delivery over the wide of extra-cover region as the fielder, despite the dive, couldn’t do anything with the ball running away from him.

But he couldn’t stretch it and got dismissed for 31 runs in 13 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of nearly 250. Abhishek tried to slash the fourth ball over the ring but failed to get the anticipated elevation off the blade to give the fielder a simple catch at long-off.

India raced away to 61/2 inside their first six overs of the innings. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel’s shared figures of 6/60 in 12 overs helped the Blue Brigade to restrict the Salman Ali Agha-led side for 127, which happened mostly due to the attacking knock of Shaheen Afridi, who remained unbeaten on 33 runs in 16 balls at a strike rate of 206.75.
