A forgettable Asia Cup for Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub. In the final of the Asia Cup 2025 against India, the top-order batter again threw his wicket cheaply. Kuldeep Yadav was the bowler, who was just about to take off.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has high hopes for Saim Ayub. Again, high-profile teams in the Asia Cup 2025 relied on the young batter and put him in the opening batter's slot. In the final, Ayub went to bat at Dubai International Stadium as a number 3 batter. In this role too, the left-handed batter was unable to justify his talent. He scored only 14 runs against 11 deliveries and went back to the pavilion. A combination of Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah showed him the path to the dressing room.
Ayub came in the middle after the dismissal of Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 57 off 38. The other opener of Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman, scored 46. The openers created the foundation for a good total on the slow, turning surface; Ayub just needed to carry on the momentum, which he couldn't.
To set a trap, the spinner delivered a good length out of the off-stump delivery. The ball was to force the batter to make a shot; Ayub stepped into the trap according to Team India's plan. Jasprit Bumrah was at the point, waiting for his moment to shine as a fielder. Ayub played a cut shot and precisely found Bumrah at the point. Bumrah did not make any mistake to grab the ball. Thus, Ayub's Asia Cup 2025 campaign came to a conclusion as a batter.
