Entire cricket fans are moved by the news of Virat Kohli's official retirement from Test cricket. Today the batter himself shared an emotional message from his verified Instagram handle to confirm his retirement from the longest form of the game. Just a few days ago, Rohit Sharma also retired from Tests, and now Virat Kohli has decided to walk away. Both retirements were sudden, and no one was expecting them, especially only a few weeks before India is set to travel to England for a Test series, the first series of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
As soon as Virat announced his retirement with a heartfelt message, his followers and cricket-crazy fans started to share their emotions to show some respect to the legend of modern cricket. The craze of Virat or the impact that the legendary batter has had on the game is immense. There is no wrong in saying that Virat Kohli is among the biggest ambassadors of the game, which is also evident from the fandom he enjoys. The craze is so much that even the Indian Army DGMO Rajiv Ghai couldn't stop himself from sharing his views about the former skipper's retirement. Addressing the media on the very sensitive India-Pakistan conflict, the Lieutenant General took a minute and expressed his admiration for the legendary India player.

"Today, we should talk about cricket, as I am seeing that Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket. Unlike many other Indians, he was also my favourite cricketer," Ghai said in the media briefing.

Virat Kohli, from his verified Instagram, announced his retirement by saying, "It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life. There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever. As I step away from this format, it’s not easy — but it feels right. I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for. I’m walking away with a heart full of gratitude — for the game, for the people I shared the field with, and for every single person who made me feel seen along the way."
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai is the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army and has been in charge since October 2024. Prior to his appointment as DGMO, Lt. Gen. Ghai was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC) of the Chinar Corps, the Indian Army unit tasked with operations in Kashmir. Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai has so far achieved multiple top military honors, like the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and Sena Medal (SM), for his leadership and service.
Now, after Kohli's announcement, one of the top figures of the Indian Army said, "Today we should talk about cricket, as I am seeing that Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket. Unlike many other Indians, he was also my favorite crickete".
