In a moving gesture, the High Commission of India in London organized a special dinner at India House to celebrate the Indian Women's Cricket Team, who are touring England for a white-ball series. The function, which took place on July 5, was organized by Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and had players, support staff, the Indian diaspora, diplomats, media, and cricket fans from all over the UK attending.

The team's achievements and the growing appeal of women's cricket in India were celebrated that evening. In his impassioned speech, High Commissioner Doraiswami praised the players as symbols of a "rising India bold, concentrated, and brimming with promise." He emphasized how their story has broken down barriers and reshaped dreams, inspiring millions of young girls in India and around the world.

An Evening of Inspiration and Pride: India House in London Honours the Indian Women's Cricket Team

The crowd enthusiastically greeted the Indian team, which was led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Players talked about their personal experiences and shared moving stories of the challenges and rewards of representing India at the highest level. Their speeches were filled with gratitude, camaraderie, and a strong message of female athletes' empowerment.

The event also witnessed emotional moments, such as all-rounder Jemimah Rodrigues crooning Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge, impressing the audience, and giving a personal touch to the evening. Smriti Mandhana, on the other hand, urged the fans in the UK to come in huge numbers and cheer for the team in the ongoing T20I and ODI series against England.
