Notably, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene appreciated the support given by Rohit. He praised the 'Hitman' for his performance. In the press conference after the GT vs MI match, the coach said, "Rohit batted brilliantly. I think he took his time and gave Jonny a chance to control the start. Then, when Rohit felt it was his time, he picked up the pace very well. The pressure he put on Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan at that moment was excellent. Players like him have a different gear for big matches. This is what experience gives. You cannot replace experience."
