In the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad, India tightened their grip on the match against New Zealand and moved closer to a commanding victory. After posting a strong total with the bat, the Indian bowlers delivered an impressive performance, while the fielders also played a crucial role. One of the key moments came when Tim Seifert, who was batting aggressively, was dismissed following a brilliant catch by Ishan Kishan at cow corner, giving India an important breakthrough.

Chasing a daunting target of 256 set by India, New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Tim Seifert continued to pose a serious threat at the other end. Carrying forward his impressive form from the semi-final into the title clash, Seifert batted with freedom and struck several impressive sixes. His aggressive approach saw him bring up a half-century in just 23 balls, briefly putting India under pressure. However, the breakthrough finally came when mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Seifert, who was caught brilliantly by Ishan Kishan, handing India a crucial wicket.

On the first ball of the ninth over of New Zealand’s innings, Varun Chakravarthy bowled a short-length delivery that Tim Seifert attempted to pull for a six. However, Seifert failed to time the shot properly, and the ball went high into the air. Positioned at deep mid-wicket, Ishan Kishan sprinted to his right and attempted the catch near the boundary. Realizing that he was losing his balance, Kishan smartly juggled the ball in the air before regaining control and completing the catch safely. The brilliant fielding effort brought an end to Seifert’s aggressive knock, with the New Zealand opener departing after scoring 52 runs off 26 balls, including two fours and five sixes.

He brought up his half-century in just 23 balls and eventually scored 54 runs off 25 deliveries before being dismissed. For the second wicket, he shared 105 runs partnership with Sanju Samson in just 48 balls, helping India post a massive total of 255/5 in 20 overs.
