Coming into the second encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India had the job of restoring their batting unit that failed badly inside the power play by losing four wickets against the United States of America at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. And they started in their old-fashioned aggressive manner, which created the chance of them crossing 300 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

The biggest over of the power play came from the bat of Ishan Kishan against JJ Smit as the left-handed batter collected 28 runs in just five deliveries with the help of four successive sixes and one boundary as India managed 86 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first six overs.

The fifth delivery of the sixth over was sent over the rope as the batter sat down to help the leg-stump delivery on its way over the long lake before he shimmered down the track and converted the lane delivery into a half volley and launched it down the ground for another six.

The 4th delivery was cut short by the pacer as Kishan again advanced down the pitch and converted it into a full delivery and lofted it over the long-on region for a massive 79-meter six. He continued the aggression with another six, in which he transferred his weight back and pulled it over the deep square leg region.

The award ended with a boundary as Kishan celebrated his half-century in just 20 deliveries. He was finally dismissed for 61 runs in just 24 deliveries with the help of six boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 254.17.

Kishan becomes the second batter for India to celebrate a half-century inside the first six overs of a T20I game as India posted their third-highest score in the first six overs of the innings. They are 95/1 against England in 2025 and still stay at the top.
