India went off to a flying start in the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi as Sanju Samson, coming in place of Abhishek Sharma, who was down with an upset stomach, got into his groove from the start and nailed the pacers of the opposition around the park.

After the dismissal of Sanju Samson, Kishan took on the left-arm pacer, JJ Smit, in the third over of the innings. On the fourth delivery of the over, Smit went full against the left-arm pacer who presented the full face of the bat and drove it straight back past the bowler, as it was a bit of a pitch but nowhere close to the bowler, and went for a boundary.

On the very next ball, the bowler decided to push the length up as it sat up nicely outside the off-stump. Kishan stayed back in the crease and swept it across the line right between the mid-wicket and mid-on region for another boundary.

Earlier in the innings, Sanju Samson opened his account with a fabulous six that he smashed by extending his arms and lofting it through the line straight down the ground against Reuben Trumplemann. It was always going to be a vital knock for the right-hand opening batter who is expected to feature in the Pakistan clash also.

In the very next over against Ben Shikongo, against the short ball over the backward of the square region, Samson creamed the pull shot as it sailed over the boundary rope into the crowd for a six. On the very next delivery, he continued to play the same shot and got the same result before punching the drive over extra cover for another boundary.

India made their way 86 runs for the loss of one wicket in the power play as Kishan collected 28 runs in the last over of the power play with four successive sixes and a boundary against JJ Smit.

Brief Scores: India 120/2 (Ishan Kishan 61, Gerherd Erasmus 1/11) vs Namibia.
