Heading into the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter between India and Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the focus was on the opening partnership of the blue brigade. Abhishek Sharma failed for a four-ball duck in the very first over of the fixture after his mistimed shot ended up in the hands of the fielder inside the circle.

But the first big shot of the evening came from Ishan Kishan, who pulled the left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi, with a massive six over the square leg region as the ball sailed over the boundary rope. And he didn’t look back at all, with another six coming on the first ball of Abrar Ahmed.
