Watch: Ishan Kishan speaks Bhojpuri during interaction with fans ahead of IND vs SA T20 World Cup Super 8 clash
The left-handed opening batter of the Indian side, Ishan Kishan, has spoken in the Bhojpuri language during the interaction with the fans ahead of their Super 8 clash against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad.

Ishan Kishan didn’t make a great start with the bat in the T20 World Cup 2026 with a low score against the United States of America at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai before finding form and rhythm with two successive half-centuries against Namibia and Pakistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, respectively.
Ahead of their Super 8 clash against South Africa, India went through an intense practice session in the evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where the entire team and the coaching staff were present. Morne Morkel, the bowling coach of the Blue Brigade, was part of the press conference.
After the end of the game, a video went viral on social media platforms where Ishan Kishan was seen giving autographs and interacting with the fans in Bhojpuri, putting a smile on his face after the practice session in Ahmedabad. This reflects the true and lovely gesture from the left-handed wicket-keeper opening batter.

Kishan was in superb form during the five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home before the start of the World Cup 2023. After two single-digit scores, the southpaw creamed a fine knock of 76 runs in Raipur before celebrating a fine century against the Blackcaps in Thiruvananthapuram. It was in fine form in leading the Jharkhand side to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26 trophy.

Kishan has overall smashed 1187 runs in 40 innings of the shortest format at an average of 30.43 and a strike rate of 144.75, with the help of nine half-centuries and one century at the best score of 103 runs. In just 40 innings, he has clubbed 63 over boundaries.
Kishan will hope to continue the same prolific performance in the Super 8 clash against the Rainbow Nation. His opening slot is fixed, but the Indian management will hope to get the best performance from the other southpaw, Abhishek Sharma, in Ahmedabad.
