The Italian cricket team arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday to play their next match against Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium. The players received a warm welcome as they stepped out of the airport.

As part of the traditional Indian greeting, tilak was applied on their foreheads. The team members smiled and happily took part in the ceremony, enjoying the special hospitality.

The players looked excited and confident ahead of the important clash against Nepal. The match at Wankhede Stadium is expected to draw strong support from fans.

Italy Suffers Heavy Defeat in Their Opening Match

T20 World Cup debutants Italy had a tough start as they went down by 73 runs against Scotland in Kolkata. Scotland posted a strong total of 207/4, with George Munsey leading the charge with 84 runs at the top. Italy, in reply, were bowled out for 134 in just 16.4 overs.

Chasing a big target of 208, Italy lost early wickets and struggled under pressure. Brothers Ben and Harry Manenti tried to fight back with a 73-run stand for the fourth wicket. Harry scored 37, while Ben hit a quick 52 off 31 balls, but the team collapsed from 113/3 and failed to stay in the contest.

Nepal Eye First Win Against The Azzurri

Meanwhile, Nepal will look to register their first win of the T20 World Cup 2026 when they face Italy, also known as The Azzurri, in a Group C match on Thursday. Nepal made their debut 12 years ago and won two games in the 2014 edition, but they have not tasted victory in the tournament since then.

Nepal came very close to beating England at the Wankhede Stadium last Sunday, losing by just four runs. That brave effort has created excitement around the team. With strong spirit and growing confidence, Nepal will hope to go one step further against Italy.
