[WATCH] Jamimah Rodrigues’ special catch dismisses Beth Mooney during Women’s World Cup 2025 semifinal
Watch the video where India's Jamimah Rodrigues grabs a fine catch to dismiss the left-handed batter of Australia, Beth Mooney, during the second semifinal of the Women's World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai.

India, during the second semifinal of the Women’s World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy against Australia, made a strong start with the ball, thanks to the wicket of Alyssa Healy with the new ball. The right-handed batter couldn’t read the seam movement of Kranti Gaud before the play was delayed due to rain. After the break, India lost momentum before Phoebe Litchfield’s windy century.
By the time the left-handed batter was dismissed on 119 runs in just 93 balls with the help of 17 boundaries and three sixes at the team’s score of 180 in the 28th over, Australia looked set to cross the 350-run mark quite comfortably. But it was important for the hosts to put the brakes on the innings. And they needed a special fielding performance.

On the last delivery of the 34th over, Shree Charani put the ball in the slot of Beth Mooney, who, on 24 runs off 22 balls, came down the track and looked to go inside-out over the extra-cover region. She couldn’t get the right elevation with the bat as Jamimah Rodrigues grabbed a fine juggling catch at the edge of the ring to send the batter back.

It was a clinical performance in the field from India, especially in a game where they had been sloppy from the very first over of the game. Their captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, dropped Alyssa Healy in the third over of the innings, while balls have passed between the knees of the fielder for boundaries.
Rodrigues later dismissed Tahila McGrath on 12 runs thanks to a run-out. Shree Charani gets the caught and bowled dismissal against Annabel Sutherland for three runs in six deliveries, while Asleigh Gardner retained her aggressive approach with the bat.
Earlier in the game, Phoebe Litchfield’s special knock of 119 runs in 93 balls with the help of 17 boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 127.96 had already helped the tourists to cross the 275-run mark in the 43rd over, and they would hope to get over the 350-run mark in their allotted 50 overs.
