Watch Jasprit Bumrah beaks Ben Stokes' defense during the ENG vs IND 3rd Test at Lord's.

Jasprit Bumrah, the premier Indian pacer, has no idea of how good he has been across formats, but especially, in the last couple of years. He was rested for the second Edgbaston Test of the five-match series against England as he made a roaring comeback in the third fixture. On his second over of the second day, he got the reward of the opponent captain Ben Stokes’ wicket.
The opening day of the fixture was an anti-Babzball day, where the home batters hardly used any aggressive shots on a surface that was helping the bowlers a bit whenever they cracked the right spot. Joe Root was the glue of the innings, but Ben Stokes was always going to be an important member of the side in the lower order.

Bumrah came round the wicket and hit the good length outside off stump. The ball jagged in through the defense of Stokes, who was caught right in the crease. The ball clattered through the batter’s defense and hit the top of the off-stump, and knocked it out of the ground. Bumrah gave a very simple reaction of That’s a normal routine for him.
Since 2023, during the home Test matches, the left-handed batter has scored 111 runs in 213 balls and has been dismissed five times against the seaming balls. In this aspect, he has an average of just over 22 and a strike rate of nearly 52.11. His departure saw Joe Root and Chris Woakes following the same path.

England, who finished on 251/4 in the opening morning, lost their first three wickets of the second day for just nine runs. Stokes' lack of form continues as questions will soon start to arise before the upcoming away Ashes 2025/26 trip to Australia. The question is simple how much he could contribute with the bat and where he should bat in the order.
